It has been great to work with a fellow explorer on his new venture into the world of freelance. Thomas Wallis is launching his first business in January as a sort of hybrid Director of Photography / Production House. While most freelancers in the film industry choose to either market themselves as individuals (directors, dps, etc) or work at a Production House that sells gear, crew, and the like, Thomas is doing a bit of both.
The challenge was figuring out how to effectively communicate this new type of business to an industry set in its ways. Below is a peek at the splash page of the website. Because his logo is simply his name, I wanted to use a bold tagline that would leave the visitor with no ambiguity about the main focus of his work: "Thomas Wallis is a director of photography." After the initial brand is clearly established, the rest of the site reveals Thomas' other services and projects (coming soon).
